The regular past participle is formed with the prefix ge, the present stem and the ending t.

The irregular past participle is also formed with the prefix ge, but with the perfect stem and the ending en.

Features:
  • Mixed conjugation:
    The following verbs form the past participle with ge, the irregular perfect stem and the regular ending t.
    bringen gebracht
    denken gedacht
    brennen  gebrannt
    kennen gekannt
    nennen genannt
    rennen gerannt
    senden gesandt also: gesendet (partially with different meaning)
    wenden gewandt also: gewendet (partially with different meaning)
